In the world of network marketing, products are important. Compensation plans are exciting. Company missions are inspiring.
But if you want to build something massive, something that duplicates, grows, and takes on a life of its own, you must master one key skill:
👉🏾 Understanding people.
We’ve already explored the four personality types: Sapphire, Pearl, Emerald, and Ruby. But let’s go deeper.
Let’s talk about how each of these characters connects with different aspects of your business and how you can position your opportunity in a way that speaks directly to their heart.
Because when people feel understood, they lean in.
And when they lean in, they move.

Psychology: Sapphires are driven by fun, freedom, and recognition. They want experiences. They want to feel alive. They need connection, but they detest routine.
How to position the business to them:
Emphasise travel incentives, team events, and parties
Show them pictures and videos of team celebrations, beach scenes, or conventions
Let them know they’ll be part of a vibrant, energetic community
Recognise them publicly, they thrive on that spotlight
Where they shine in your team:

Put them front and centre. Sapphires make phenomenal promoters. They’re the ones who will invite half the town to your event if it sounds exciting. Give them tools, give them energy, and let them run.

Psychology: Pearls are loyal. They’re nurturers. They don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. They’re driven by purpose, people, and impact.
How to position the business to them:
-Â Â Share the mission behind the company, especially if it has a charitable arm
-Â Â Highlight stories of lives being changed (health transformations, financial turnarounds)
-Â Â Focus on the relationships and sense of community in the team
-Â Â Let them know their loyalty and service will matter here
Where they shine in your team:

They are incredible at follow-up, customer care, and nurturing your team culture. They’ll check in on people, make others feel seen, and are the glue that keeps teams together. Pearls are the ones who remember birthdays, bring empathy to group chats, and make your business feel like home.

Psychology: Emeralds are logical, detail-oriented, and system-driven. They want everything to make sense. They care deeply about integrity, transparency, and structure.
How to position the business to them:
Break down the compensation plan clearly, use charts and visual aids
Show them the training systems, tools, and support available
Share testimonials with statistics or case studies
Be prepared to answer questions, they’ll come with plenty
Where they shine in your team:

Let them run your systems and processes. If you do offline meetings or Zoom calls, Emeralds will make sure everything is scheduled, documented, and organised. If you’ve got tools and resources to be shared, they’ll manage and update them like clockwork. They also make exceptional trainers, when they teach, they teach it right.

Psychology: Rubies are hungry. They’re wired to win. They love targets, challenges, and climbing ranks. They’re not driven by emotion, they want results. But they don’t want to follow, they want to lead.
How to position the business to them:
Talk about rank advancement, leadership tiers, and the top earner potential
Show them how to hit milestones fast
Share leaderboard graphics, competitions, and success stories
Position the business as a vehicle for prestige, influence, and serious income
Where they shine in your team:

Rubies are your fire starters. They’ll push through barriers, outwork everyone, and bring momentum into your business like a freight train. But they must be challenged. Give them goals, let them compete, and recognise their wins publicly. If they believe in the mission and trust the system, they’ll build empires.

Here’s the truth:
Most people try to recruit and mentor others the way they like to be recruited or mentored.
But that’s a one-way ticket to frustration.
If you’re a Ruby trying to motivate a Pearl by talking about bonuses and top rank perks... you’ll lose them.
If you’re a Sapphire onboarding an Emerald without any structure... they’ll quietly disappear.
This is why so many teams struggle to duplicate.
Real leadership begins when you stop projecting and start connecting.
When you master the psychology of people, your entire business begins to scale, not because you're doing more, but because you're leading better.
And when you build a team where each personality type is seen, valued, and used in their area of strength?
đź’Ą You create a machine.
A thriving, duplicating, people-powered engine of momentum.
